AHS President and CEO Vickie Kaminski resigns

Vickie Kaminski, the president and CEO of Alberta Health Services has resigned, the Alberta government said today in a news release. Kaminski joined the organization in May 2014 and said her resignation, which will become effective in the new year, is a “personal decision.” The new AHS Board also formally took over today.

Man is dead after shooting himself inside Foothills Hospital

A man is dead after committing suicide in the emergency department at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary. Police were called to the hospital at about 4:40 a.m. Thursday morning after a man shot himself. Police refused to release few details, arguing that because a suicide is involved a shooting in a public hospital is not worthy of news coverage.
