AHS & CARNA Fort McMurray Wildfire Information

AHS provides wildfire support information for members on social media

Alberta Health Services has created a staff wildfire support page on Facebook.

The page, for use by AHS staff members and the public affected by the Fort McMurray wildfire, asks all AHS employees impacted by the Fort McMurray fire to contact Human Resources as soon as possible by calling or emailing:

  • 1 844 350 3181 (toll free)
  • 1 780 350 3181 (local)
  • NZ.staffcheckin

“We need to know your whereabouts and the best way to contact you and provide you with updates,” AHS says on the Facebook page. “If you have already contacted HR, you do not need to contact them again unless something changes.

“Employee & Family Assistance Program supports are available toll free 24 hours per day, 7 days per week by calling 1 877 273 3134,” the page also says. “Please forward this to any other staff you know who have been impacted.”

Meanwhile, the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) says its current priorities in the areas affected by the fire are:

  • To expedite any courtesy permits requested, such as for nurses from out of province with hazmat expertise.
  • Connecting with students at Keyano College who may be concerned about scheduled exams.~

Practice questions should be directed to CARNAís practice consulting staff: practice.
